TEHRAN – Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Imam Khomeini, was forced to abandon his address at a ceremony marking the 21st anniversary of his grandfather’s demise.

A number of hecklers prevented Hassan Khomeini from speaking at the Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum by shouting slogans like “Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah is the real grandson of Ruhollah (Imam Khomeini’s first name).”
Hassan Khomeini expressed regret that a “few people” in the crowd were disrupting the ceremony, saying it is not a becoming behavior in Imam’s mausoleum only after 21 years from his demise.
“People loath the small group that is creating disorder, please allow me to speak for a few minutes, because what this small group is doing doesn’t befit the dignity of the Imam,” he said before abandoning his speech.
When Hassan Khomeini was leaving the podium, the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who was the next speaker, mollified him and planted a kiss on his forehead.
